Supercup 2010, Round 1 Result

Unfortunately we failed to progress in this years competition. We were well beaten by a strong and well rehursed JV Thorney A side who took the tie by 6 sections to two. Had it have been a tie on section points, JV would have also have won on aggregate weight.

It was a low weight affair with a well earned level 20lb enough for victory. It was pleaseing however that evreyone caught a few fish after the difficult practices we experienced.

The team captain would like to thank the squad and club members who helped practise and formulate and plan and the team members for trying their best on the day.

2010 Pre-Season Meeting

The pre-season meeting will be held at The Windmill pub, the same venue as the AGM, on the 12 April 2010 @ 8pm.

The plan is to run through the fixtures for the 2010 campaing, go over the club rules so we are all aware what is expected and also give members to opportunity to suggest venues for 2011.

The pre-season meeting will give members who have yet to pay, the opportunity to pay their club subs and match fees up front if they choose to.

2010 Subscriptions & Match fees

Club subs:

Member £20
Concession £10 (Disability/Junior/Student/OAP)

Match fees:

Pay £64 up front (covers peg all fees in advance) and £5 at each match (£4 pools & £1 to the club funds),
or;
Pay £12 at each match (£6 peg fee regardless of venue, £4 pools and £2 to the club funds).


The club relies on cash flow at this point of the season to enable us to pay for our match bookings so if you plan to fish the majoirty of matches it would be benificial to you and the club to pay your match fees up front.

Subs should be paid no later than the start of the first match on 18 April but preferably at the Pre-season meeting on the 12 April 2010.

AGM CHANGE OF VENUE

The Black Bull has closed, its a long story, and its unlikely to reopen for at least 8 weeks.

The AGM will now be held at The Windmill, in Somersham, this was our old HQ.

The Windmill is on the main road out of Somersham on the way to Pidley on the left hand side at the junction between the B1086 & B1089.

Date and time have not changed.

We will be in part of the restaurant, the conservatory, this has doors and can be closed off. Monday nights are usually quiet in this pub so can we keep the noise down and watch the language. This is a bit last minute but the Black Bull only closed last Monday.

Supercup Round 1 - Practice Dates

Pegs 1-16 booked on Sunday 31 January 2010 & 21 February 2010.

The more the merrier.

We have drawn at home against JV Thorney 'A'.

The tie is to be fished on 28th February 2010 on the Farmshop Lake at Dents.

2010 Annual General Meeting

All members are requested to attend the AGM which is to be held on Monday 22 February 2009 at The Black Bull, Somersham.

We will have a lot to get through so I'd be gratefull if could arrive in good time to commence the meeting at 8pm sharp and let's stick to the agenda as much as possible.

Fur & Feather, Old Nene, Ramsey St Marys - 6 December 2009

8 members and one guest fished this years Fur & Feather on the Old Nene at Ramsey St Marys.

The three contenders for the Champtionship, Ray, Trev & myself drew on pegs 2, 3 & 4 respetivley. Guest John Pierrepont was on peg 1, Martin on 5, Weasle 6, Ron 7, El Presidente 8 & AT Tony was on end peg 9, just to the right of the 'Wires'; a noted area for bonus fish.

As we set up in atrocious conditions, Ron decided he wasn't going to take any more and opted to have a days fishing at the relativley sheltered Factory Bank just around the corner. This left Weasel and El Presedente with a spare peg to one side. The wind and rain eased in good time for the start of the match and the conditions were relativley pleasant for the rest of the day.

With the bonus fish proving elusive for many of those who were targeting them, most of the lads opted to concentrate on fishing for the abundance of small fish in the venue. John, Ray & I spend the majority of the day fish to hand at 4m with myslef making a switch in the last hour to my hemp line which brought a dozen or so better stamp roach. Trev opted to fish top 3 to hand as any other line he investigated was full of snags. AT Tony on end peg 9 did pick up a couple of bonus Perch of 1lb 8oz and 1lb 6oz.

AT the weigh in John on peg 1 weighed just under 6lb. Ray on 2 had 9lb 2oz which I was sure to be enough to win. Fortunalely for me my net of fish went just under 10lb. Trev weighed in 7lb 15oz, with AT Tony landing the only other 7lb weight of 7lb 14oz.

As a result I just pipped Ray to the Winter League by one point and secured the Championship for the 3rd time in 5 years. Along with the Summer League title won earlier this year it has been a good year for me. I have been lucky in the draw bag and I hope this luck continues next year as I look to defend all 3 titles!
